If you haven’t seen what Bo Pelini and the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team did during their spring game recently, you need to stop everything, and check it out. Jack Hoffman, a 7-year-old Cornhusker fan had a rare form of Respiratory Failure and nearly died when he was 5 years old. Over the next several months after his first Respiratory failure, he would suffer from as many as 12 seizures a day. Doctors found a tumor in Jacks body and were going to have to remove it. They went in for the first surgery and took

most of the tumor but would have to go in a second time. Jack’s second surgery was life threatening, but his father said that he trusted Jack would fight through the surgery.Before Jack’s second surgery, he composed a bucket list of things he wanted to do. One of the things he wanted to do was meet Rex Burkhead. Jack’s family had connections to the CornHuskers football team and a few weeks before the second surgery Jack and his family made a trip to the University of Nebraska and ate lunch with Rex Burkhead. Burkhead started to become a large roll in Jacks life and they stayed in touch. Jack Survived the second surgery and just recently finished up nearly 60 weeks of Chemotherapy.
This spring, One of Nebraska’s football coaches decided to change the Spring Football game and let Jack play. During the game, the offense set up a play and let jack run the ball for a touchdown. The entire team joined Jack to celebrate in the End zone.

Rex Burkhead, former Nebraska Running back has hopes of being drafted into the NFL this month and you can bet Jack will be cheering him on. Burkhead has started a non-profit organization that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for tumor research.
